YARD INCLINING TESTS DONE IN LESS THAN 10MIN

After successful tests with prototype shipboard installations in 1990, and subsequent approval by class societies and authorities, the Intering Stability Test System (ISTS) was the approved for shipyard's inclining tests. The inclining test time was substantially reduced when the ISTS system was used on a new diesel-electric ferry. Test quality was said to have been decisively improved by immediately making visible any impediment to the ship's movement or other disturbing influences. Using an on-line precision draught measuring system, test results were available in just a few minutes. The test procedure and results are explained in the article and the benefits of ISTS are discussed.
