PORTS MAKES NAVIGATION SAFER

PORTS (Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System) is a centralized data acquisition and dissemination system which provides water levels, currents and other oceanographic and meteorological data from an entire bay or harbour to the maritime community in a variety of user-friendly forms. The article describes the use of the system in the USA at Tampa Bay, Florida, the Port of New York-New Jersey and in San Francisco Bay, California.
