SPECIAL RIB FOR SWEDISH RESCUE

The first of a new class of inshore lifeboats has been handed over to the Swedish Sea Rescue Society. This 9m RIB which was built by Vector Marine in Falmouth, England is now on station at Barsebeck in Sweden. With a displacement of 2.3 tonnes on a fully loaded displacement with four crew of about 3 tonnes, the 300hp engine and water jet give a maximum speed of about 32 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots, corresponding ranges being 170 nautical miles at full power and about 250nm at the cruising speed.
