MARION DUFRESNE: FRENCH-BUILT RESEARCH AND SUPPLY VESSEL FOR AUSTRAL TERRITORIES
The 120.75 long Antarctic scientific research and supply ship MARION DUFRESNE was built at the French yard of Ateliers et Chantiers du Havre for the Compagnie Generale Maritime and the Administration of French Austral and Antarctic Territories. Transportation for up to a total complement of 160 personnel is possible. The vessel has a container capacity of 109TEU. The versatility of the design is reflected in its ability to also function as a helicopter carrier, and to provide logistic support; facilities include a helideck platform and a two-helicopter hangar.
