STRESS AND STABILITY OF CONE-TOROID-CYLINDER COMPLEX SHELLS

Stress in cone-toroid-cylinder complex shells under uniform hydrostatic pressures are investigated by means of an analytical method. Critical values of external pressure for the complex shells are also presented on the basis of the Troughs criterion. The numerical results show that the local stress values in con-toroid- cylinder complex shells are significantly lower than those in the similar cone-cylinder complex shells with the same overall dimensions and wall thickness under the same load, meanwhile, the buckling pressure for cone-toroid-cylinder complex shells is higher than that for the corresponding cone-cylinder complex shells.
