A STUDY ON THE STATISTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STILL-WATER BENDING MOMENT OF CONTAINERSHIPS AND LARGE OIL TANKERS
In this paper, a detailed review of state-of-the-art still water load effects is given. The empirical regression formulas given by Soares and Moan are discussed. It is found that a great difference exists among researchers on the statistical characteristics of still-water load effects. Therefore, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to investigate the respective influences of the mean value and the coefficient of variation of the still-water bending moment on the ultimate longitudinal strength of ships.
