DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND THE SCIENCE OF RAILWAY OPERATION -- PRODUCTIVITY STUDIES BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF A RAILWAY LINE

AUSBAUPLANUNG UND EISENBAHNBETRIEBSWIRTSCHAFT. LEISTUNGSUNTERSUCHUNGEN AM BEISPIEL EINER STRECKE

Poor operating conditions and the expected increase in traffic make new construction and extension of the railway network a necessity. The purpose of the science of railway operation is to show that the transport envisaged can be carried out in a satisfactory way from the standpoint of quality and quantity with the planned installations. The authors discuss the different alternative arrangements for a line and the junctions by which it is bounded, partly by use of electronic data processing methods.
