SUCCESSFUL CEMENT CARRIER CONVERSION AT DUBAI DRYDOCKS

The article describes the new floating dock at Dubai Drydocks. The dock which is 205m long overall, 190.32m over keel blocks, 36m between inner walls, giving 34.48m clear width for ship dockings, has a lifting capacity of 15,00 tonnes and is the only floating dock built in the Gulf. Also described is an unusual conversion project carried out at Dubai Drydocks when a cement carrier GOLDEN ARROW I, was stemmed to be shortened by approximately 60m to bring her length overall to below 200m and to reduce gross tonnage, making the ship more economical to operate.
