MECHANISM OF WELD FORMATION IN RESISTANCE SEAM WELDING

Work has been carried out to determine the factors which influence the welding current range and the maximum welding speed in resistance seam welding. A model is postulated where weld formation depends on the current distribution in the weld zone; this in turn is dependent on the way in which the resistance of the steel sheets changes as they pass through the electrode arc of contact.
