PLANNING IN PRACTICE - A CASE STUDY

This paper describes the public involvement aspect of a freeway location investigation being carried out by one of the state road authorities. This case represents the first time this road authority has attempted to involve the public in the planning process prior to route adoption. Although investigations are not yet complete, problems arising from the approach used have become apparent. Modifications to procedures to help overcome these are tentatively suggested. /Author/TRRL/
