This paper covers the improvements and changes which have been applied to the first fast passenger/car ferry operation in Scandinavia with a wave piercing catamaran during the first year of operation. There have been changes in local regulations as well as in ship operation, and technical improvements to the vessel. As a result the sailing time has been reduced considerably and the total system's efficiency has been increased. The sailing time in this fast ferry system is now down to the time required according to the time scheduled. If a future reduction of the total time requirement for this transportation system is needed, the terminal operation and procedures are the obvious points to focus on.
