STUDY ON FPSO FOR NATURAL GAS LIQUEFACTION PLANT USING SPB TANK SYSTEM

LNG demand is predicted to increase, requiring the exploitation of small and medium gas fields in the near future. A study was recently carried out on a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO), or floating type natural gas liquefaction plant, using the SPB LNG tank system developed for LNG carriers. The study revealed that LNG production facilities can be easily and reasonably installed on the FPSO, because the deck of the SPB system can provide a wide and flat are, and the SPB tanks have no sloshing problem which is an essential factor for FPSOs. The SPB LNG FPSO can be used for small to large floating liquefaction plants with any type of liquefaction process.
