THE MEASUREMENT OF SOUND AND NOISE

This paper describes the measurement of sound at an introductory level. The amplitude, frequency and propagation of sound waves are described, and the decibel scale and its application are defined. Separate chapters also deal with: the basic psychology and physiology of hearing; sound levels and degree of noise; international standards, and noise criteria; measuring equipment and methods of evaluation. /TRRL/
