FEATURES OF PROPELLER CAVITATION INCEPTION REVEALED FROM THE ANALYSIS OF THE CAVITATION NOISE PULSE-TO-PULSE INTERVAL DISTRIBUTION
This paper presents the noise spectrum and the corresponding cavitation noise from a 0.25 model propeller and an equivalent 0.25 m model propeller and an equivalent 0.25 m diameter rotating rod. Analysis of the cavitation pulse to pulse interval dt distribution's show that the test data can be characterized by / i as either 1) uncorellated / i > 1, or 2) correlated with wake / i < 1. Up to / i = 1 a representative single bubble noise spectra can be adopted for model full scale estimates and a rotating rod can represent the model propeller cavitation noise.
