CRINE - COST REDUCTION INITIATIVE FOR THE NEW ERA
CRINE (Cost Reduction Initiative for the New Era) is a dynamic and positive UK Continental Shelf response to the pressure of competition in the world of oil and gas. It is an industry wide initiative with the main objective of making it possible to achieve a 30% or more reduction in capital cost for any future oil and gas facilities development. This cost reduction will, without prejudicing safety or protection of the environment, continue to maximise the remaining recoverable reserves, improve the construction industry's competitiveness in the international arena and thereby help sustain employment at a higher level than would otherwise have been possible. The paper discusses the background and origins of CRINE and its role in the oil and gas industry.
