CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF A RO/RO CATAMARAN FERRY FOR SHORT SEA SHIPPING
Short sea shipping is a current keyword in European transport logistics. It describes the political desire to shift traffic from road to sea along the European coastlines. A transport cost-benefit analysis derives general requirements for ships within the short sea shipping concept. Cargo transfer is a key factor for success, maximum speed at sea of minor importance. The work for SWATH design of a ro/ro ferry involves power prognosis, weight and cost estimates. The design appears both technically and economically feasible.
