THE BENEFITS AND ECONOMICS OF CONVERSION OF PASSENGER FERRIES

This paper describes the process that is established within a passenger ship company when the question is raised regarding improvement of its existing fleet, such improvement being either newbuilding or conversion of their own ships, or alternatively, second hand ships. The various processes taking place during the conversion period of a ship are described in some detail. Background information which it is necessary to collect when analysing the capacity requirements of a company for improved capacity is presented.
