This article, which includes general arrangement drawings, describes the ro/ro ferry XIAN JIAN ZHEN which provides a weekly round-trip ferry service linking Shanghai with Kobe, Osaka and Yokohama. The hull form has been particularly developed to offer low wave-making resistance to ride out the severe weather conditions encountered on this route. A total of 355 passengers can be carried and in the ro/ro mode 218TEU can be loaded in two tiers on the main deck, within the hull, with facilities provided for 60 units to be refrigerated.
