SAGA SPRAY: OPEN-TYPE BULKER WITH PROTECTED CARGO HANDLING

The 37,543dwt SAGA SPAY, built by Oshima Shipbuilding Co Ltd, Japan, will carry forest products and steel, and special attention has been given to the care of these sensitive materials, both during loading/unloading operations, and whilst onboard. A fixed roof with retractable covers for the extensions has been fitted over each gantry crane, giving protection against the weather from the hold to the quayside. Onboard cargo care includes the provision of hold humidifiers, which maintain suitable conditions for the carriage of forest products and steel. General arrangement drawings of the vessel are included in this article.
