According to a group of submarine parameters including submarine performance, arrangement and structure elements, the relationship between the coefficients and each category of weight and volume components, which are based on a new classification, are analysed. The mathematical model for underwater equilibrium of submarines is established. The output of the computer program consists of the displacement, weight and volume. The coefficients of the main input parameters are influenced by the power of the propulsion plant. Analysis and calculation results indicate that the model gives better results than the model using displacement estimation and weight-volume analysis. The presented displacement estimation method has been validated with five different types of submarine. It may be used as a module within a computer-aided submarine design system.
