PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE OF MARINE ENGINES

The use of an engine tester for routine checking of ships diesel engines is described. Field tests, comparing the cylinder pressure with results of, for example, endoscopic inspections, have confirmed that a clear correlation exists between the cylinder pressure curve and the onset of various problems such as broken piston rings, eroded cylinder walls, coking, and poor fuel injection.
