COMPUTATION OF VISCOUS FLOW AROUND SERIES 60 MODEL AND COMPARISON WITH EXPERIMENTS

Ship boundary-layer and wake flows are analyzed using the finite-analytic scheme. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with the standard k - epsilon turbulence model and the wall-function approach. The numerical method developed by Patel et al for calculating ship stern and wake flows has been modified and extended to analyze a wider flow region with a more general hull geometry. An overview is given for this approach and numerical results are presented for the Series 60 model. The latter includes detailed comparisons between the present and previous computational results with available experimental data.
