Three Atlantic Class containerships owned by the US company Sea-Land Inc are to be shortened by 40 metres at the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg, making them three knots faster. This will create the new ship Type SL 31, SL standing for Sea-Land, 3 for 3,000 TEU and 1 for 21 knots.
