HIGH-SPEED DESIGN PLUGS GAP IN MARKET
The article describes the new Wartsila 200 series engine. The 200mm-bore/240mm-stroke engine is intended to bridge a perceived gap between existing high-speed engines and the more traditional range. With a high power/weight ratio of less than 5 kg/kW at an output of 3 600kW Wartsila believes this engine will be suitable for a number of ship types including tugs, fast ferries and diesel-electric installations.
