TESTING OF CONCRETE IN STRUCTURES. 3RD EDITION

There is a great deal of interest in in-situ testing of hardened concrete, largely as a result of an increase in the number of concrete structures showing signs of deterioration. To investigate the nature and extent of the problem, and to ensure that new structures are built to appropriate standards, the development of a range of in-situ test methods, particularly those relating to durability performance, has continued. The need for in-situ measurements has been clearly demonstrated, but in many cases engineers are unaware of the features and, more importantly, the limitations of the available test methods. The principal aim of this book is therefore to provide a comprehensive and concise overview of this important area, while at the same time giving sufficient detail about individual test methods to inform engineers of their advantages and limitations. There is material covering the general trend toward automation of test methods, performance monitoring of concrete structures and the use of statistical methods.
