PERMAFROST DATABASE, 1994. FINAL REPORT

Beginning in 1969, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has periodically monitored and recorded subsurface temperature data at several permafrost sites in interior Alaska. Subsurface temperatures were monitored at several sites over time in an effort to observe long term changes and develop a database leading to a reliable methodology to predict thaw depths. The University of Alaska, Fairbanks, has been monitoring subsurface temperatures for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities since 1991. Nine sites were monitored through spring 1993; since then, eight have been monitored to the present date after that. This report summarizes instrument repairs performed at each site and provides a summary of subsurface temperature profiles for the 1994 spring and fall readings. Historical data are organized in Lotus/Quatro spreadsheets.
