PROPOSAL FOR A STUDY FOR A SHOCK ABSORBING TEST DURING THE PERIODICAL VEHICLE INSPECTION
ONDERZOEKSVOORSTEL APK-DEMPINGTEST
An objective inspection of shock absorbers is not possible by the Periodical Vehicle Inspection. A new shock aborbing test unit to determine if the shock absorbing of cars meets the minimum requirements, and which can be used in a center for Periodical Vehicle Inspection, should be developed.A proposal for the construction of such a test unit is made by a technical bureau. This report discusses the attainability of this proposal in practice, considering the following questions: which characteristics of the vehicle should be tested in the Periodical Vehicle Inspection by such a shock absorbibg test unit: how can these characteristics been measured; how can the limit values for the characteristics be determined; how can this been translated into the specifications for the schock absorbing test unit; and how can the shock absorbing test unit be judged and calibrated.
