A DESIGN FOR A SPEED MEASURING NETWORK IN THE PROVINCE OF ZEELAND
EEN ONTWERP VOOR EEN VERKEERSMEETNET IN DE PROVINCIE ZEELAND
A design for a speed measuring network on rural provincial roads (excluding the motorways) in the province of Zeeland has been made. In the design speed enforcement projects and a sustainable road safety demonstration project in West-Zeeuwsch-Vlaanderen (where also urban streets were incorporated) were taken into account. The speed measuring system can be permanent (using loop detectors in the road surface) or variable (using radar or tubes). A basic network will be installed with loop detectors. Part of this network will supply data for national policy purposes. The total network will be supplying data for provincial purposes. In this report the required traffic characteristics to be collected and the technical characteristics are specified. Possible uses of the data thus collected is summed up in the report. (A)
