FHWA FIELD TESTS ANTI-ICING IN 15 STATES: NEW WINTER MAINTENANCE METHODS LOOK PROMISING

Fifteen states participated in a Federal Highway Administration study of anti-icing techniques. Anti-icing techniques use chemicals to lower the freezing temperature of the pavement surface and stop the bond between the pavement and ice or snow from forming. This summary lists the chemicals tested and the results of the favorable field tests. A list of states that participated is included.
