SURVEY OF PRACTICE IS MUSIC TO DESIGNER'S EARS. AGENCIES REVEAL NOISE PREVENTION SECRETS

Researchers at the Texas Transportation Institute surveyed state transportation agencies, Puerto Rico, and Ontario, Canada, to determine their noise abatement wall design practices, including policy, material selection, maintenance, aesthetics, acoustics, community participation, and construction. This article reports on survey responses, noting that community input has helped planners develop a strategy for design that includes the needs and desires of the surrounding developments and transportation agencies.
