PRELIMINAIRY (SIC) GUIDELINES FOR CALIBRATION OF FALLING WEIGHT DEFLECTOMETERS

This publication contains preliminary guidelines for calibration of falling weight deflectometers (FWD's) and FWD components for all FWD's operational in the Netherlands. The calibration procedures were developed by the P7 "Falling Weight Deflection Testing" Study Committee, which was supervised by the Netherlands Centre for Research and Contract Standardization in Civil and Traffic Engineering (CROW). The guidelines are written primarily for the Dutch situation, where all FWD's operate with load pulse widths in the range of 20-35 ms. Most descriptions and protocols may, however, also apply to other conditions and countries. The calibration program consists of several levels of calibration, running from simple to more comprehensive. Protocols are written for each calibration procedure. These protocols were partially amended from the protocols developed by the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) of the National Research Council, Washington, DC. This publication has a Dutch version: Deflectieprofiel geen valkuil meer.
