BOULDER'S NEW PEDESTRIAN CROSSING WARRANTS

Boulder's warrants are tailored to meet the City's needs by optimizing safety and minimizing delay for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The criteria provide a framework for identifying locations where pedestrian crossing treatments are appropriate and should be implemented. The warrants apply to unprotected pedestrian crossings in urban, suburban and residential areas with speed limits of 40 mph or less and are structured into a convenient flow chart evaluation approach. They do not apply to school crossings or to existing protected pedestrian crossings.
