DEVELOPING MICHIGAN'S STATEWIDE NETWORK USING TRANSCAD 2.1

A Statewide Travel Demand Model Update and Calibration Project is being conducted by the Michigan Department of Transportation to build a statewide network that represents travel on an integrated highway, intercity bus, and passenger rail network. TransCAD, a licensed product that integrates geographic information systems capabilities with travel demand analysis capabilities, is the platform upon which the new model is being built. This paper, which appears in a compendium of conference papers, focuses on building an area database that supports 2,391 zones, a line database with over 13,000 highway links, and 8,000 nodes.
