SANTA BARBARA TRAVEL MODEL FOR MOBILE SOURCE EMISSIONS ANALYSIS

This paper, which appears in a compendium of conference papers, describes a project conducted to estimate and forecast on-road transportation travel data and emissions. The key objectives of the project for the areas of travel and emissions modeling were: 1) to develop a transportation model to provide baseline and forecast travel data for the evaluation of road improvements and regional land use patterns on mode choice and route assignment and 2) to prepare an emission inventory to provide emissions estimates by type for the baseline and forecast years, and for spatial and temporal requirements. The paper outlines the considerations for travel models used in air quality analysis and discusses preparation of data for emissions analysis.
