TRAVEL MARKET RESEARCH AND DEMAND MODELING IN TOLL AND FARE POLICY ANALYSIS

This synopsis outlines the market research studies conducted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to gauge the potential effectiveness of transportation pricing strategies that might contribute to travel demand management, reduction in travel delays, and fulfillment of regional air quality program objectives. Three inter-related survey instruments provide key data in this research endeavor. The results of the study have provided a base upon which objective analysis of toll and fare policy options can be performed. This summary appears in a compendium of conference papers.
