ROAD TRAFFIC STATISTICS GREAT BRITAIN 1995

This report presents data on road traffic in Great Britain for the year 1994 and in some cases for earlier years. It provides a picture of road traffic patterns, how they are changing, and what road transport is used for, what it costs, and how it affects the environment. It draws mainly on the results of the national travel survey of the Department of Transport (DOT), but also includes information from other sources. It begins with a brief overview and a glossary. Then there are sections of statistical tables, charts, and commentary for: (1) road traffic in 1994; (2) recent trends in road traffic 1984-1994; (3) road lengths and vehicle flows by country and DOT region for 1994; (4) long-term trends in road traffic 1954-1994; (5) traffic forecasts 1994-2005; (6) seasonal, daily, and hourly traffic variations in 1994; (7) use of energy by road transport from mid-1980s to mid-1990s; (8) traffic and the environment; (9) private motoring; (10) freight traffic; (11) traffic speeds in 1994; and (12) road accident statistics 1984-1994, including fatal and serious injury accident rates.
