FLOCCULANT TESTS
This report describes and evaluates the application methods and the effectiveness of utilizing chemical flocculants to enhance the normal gravity settling rate of dispersed oil in water on tankers. The results of laboratory, pilot-scale, and four full-scale shipboard tests demonstrate the chemicals potential for significantly reducing the amount of dispersed oil in a ship's slop tank; thus minimizing the quantity of oil discharged at sea.
