A reliable and accurate functioning Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) is one of the most important elements in a transit system. Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) uses innovative computer software to save time and money with a fully automated fluid, mileage, and tire tracking system. The system was widely regarded as less than credible. The article describes the steps DART has taken to make the system effective.
