The National Concrete Masonry Association recently published the "Design Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls," which is being followed by SRWall, a computer program that can implement the guidelines for routine segmental retaining wall structures. This article lists the features of the SRWall program and notes that potential failure mechanisms for segmental retaining walls, discovered after the manual's preparation, are covered by the new software. The program eliminates tedious hand calculations and cumbersome spreadsheets, allowing designers to distinguish between various segmental retaining wall system.
