EFFECTIVE NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC MITIGATION IN COLORADO
Traffic engineers need to balance the needs of the roadway network with the needs of the neighborhood. If there is a problem with vehicles using residential streets as substitute arterial routes, traffic engineers need to get beyond trying to find reasons not to take any action. They are making progress as a profession, but in most communities there is a long way to go. Municipalities in Colorado have tried a variety of actions with varying levels of success. This paper reports on some of the actions that have been taken to date and their effectiveness.
