MOTOR CARRIER PRICING PRACTICES: THE LTL CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVE

Recently, the University of Tennessee Center for Logistics Research conducted a formal study of less than truckload (LTL) pricing practices. The study was designed to focus on two important research questions: (1) To what extent is the LTL shipping community satisfied/dissatisfied with motor carrier pricing practices today? (2) What pricing options should be considered in lieu of the present practices? The goal of this research was to generate shipper based information and feedback regarding today's pricing practices and shipper opinions toward alternative pricing practices. Details of the study design and results are provided.
