MEASUREMENT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION OF CARS. COMPARISON OF SWEDISH METHOD AND CURRENT AND NEXT GENERATION OF EU REGULATIONS
MAETNING AV BILARS BRAENSLEFOERBRUKNING: EN JAEMFOERELSE MELLAN DEN SVENSKA METODEN OCH NUVARANDE OCH NAESTA GENERATION EU-BESTAEMMELSER
This report relates to fuel consumption. In Sweden, fuel consumption of cars has been declared since end of 70s. Due to entry into EU, a new method of measurement will be used. Ranking of cars will be drastically altered. Large individual differences in results are likely. The new generation of EU regulations, coming into force on 1.1.96 and 1.1.97, have been modified to accord better with current exhaust requirements, chiefly with regard to driving pattern and test temperature. This is a step towards the approach applied in Sweden. CO2 emission will also be declared. Future method will result in 10% increase in declaration of fuel consumption compared with present Swedish method.
