EMISSIONS FROM OLDER CATALYST-EQUIPPED VEHICLES
The aim of this study is to get more information about the durability of the exhaust emission control system. Emissions from older catalyst-equipped vehicles would here be essential. This study which only deals with the first part of the project 9058, comprised 11 catalyst-equipped vehicles with an average odometer reading of 96 391 km. Five of the vehicles had an odometer reading below 80 000 km and the rest had a reading above this. For all vehicles the average emission values for CO, HC and NOx, are below the stipulated limit values at the urban driving cycle (UDC). The emissions of NOx at the highway driving cycle (HDC) are all below the limit. The highest NOx- emissions are produced from the vehicle with the smallest engine. For the fuel consumption the opposite is valid. Apart from the regular UDC- and HDC-tests some additional tests were performed. The vehicles were tested at different constant speeds and the contribution of a cold start was studied by performing a test consisting of a cold starting ys-phase directly followed by a yht-phase. The results from these tests will not be presented in this report due to the fact that more tests have to be done to ensure significant results. Further tests will be carried out and all results will be presented in the final report. (A)
