RESTRUCTURING THE INDIAN PORTS SYSTEM
In moving toward a privatized port system, India faces many challenges. The development of "centers of excellence"--modern, integrated terminals operated under license by the private sector--will expedite port modernization through the demonstration effect. Proposals for one such center at Nhava Sheva are described.
