EVIDENCE OF A.B.S. SCUFF MARKS ON THE ROADWAY
On April 18, 1995, the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office Vehicle Homicide Unit (Florida) hosted an antilock brake system (ABS) workshop. The workshop was attended by 25 Treasure Coast Accident Investigators. Though much ABS deceleration data has been gathered and published, very little has been written on the identification of ABS evidence on the roadway. This was the focus of the day of testing; to see what kind of evidence an ABS stop would leave. Then, after observing known marks, develop a strategy for assessing future accident scenes that involve ABS equipped cars.
