EXPANSIVE CEMENT AND CEMENT-TREATED BASECOURSES IN PAVEMENTS

The history of development of expansive cements, their composition, properties, and recent applications are briefly reviewed. This is followed by a fairly comprehensive review of the use of expansive cements to reduce drying-shrinkage cracking in cement-treated basecourses. With regard to soil stabilization using expansive cements, potential problems are discussed and specific recommendations for further work are made. (A) /TRRL/
