THE ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE

A knowledge of the elastic properties of concrete is essential for the design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. Such information is generally lacking in cp 110 for structural lightweight concrete. Data are presented on static and dynamic moduli, Poisson's ratio and the damping properties of structural lightweight concrete, and the effects of strength, age and curing conditions are discussed. Equations are presented for predicting static modulus, dynamic modulus and Poisson's ratio. An equation is also developed for estimating the static modulus from the dynamic modulus which is easier to determine. (A) /TRRL/
