ROAD CASUALTY REDUCTION 2000. SOUTH EAST REGION REPORT 1994

This is the third edition of the RCR 2000 Group's Strategy and Report. It complements the individual County Council's Road Safety Plans and should be read in conjunction with them. Comprising representatives from County Councils, Police forces, the Highways Agency and The Government Office for the South East, the group was set up in 1989. An 8.6% casualty reduction figure in the south east area is considered to have been a considerable achievement but doubts are expressed about achieving the desired one third reduction figure. Speed has been found to be the most important factor and details are given of some of the campaigns implemented. Details are given in appendices of casualty figures, population and vehicle increases and police enforcement strategies.
