RINA SYMPOSIUM ON SMALL FAST WARSHIPS AND SECURITY VESSELS

Today's small fast warships need more space and weight for weapons and are used for long periods at very low speed, followed by rapid engine loading for full speed. They must be difficult to detect by the enemy. The main qualities required of the machinery are therefore:- Compact and lightweight propulsion engines - Low fuel consumption over the full working range - Ability to run continuously at very low loads - High reliability - Low heat, noise and smoke emissions. S.E.M.T.-PIELSTICK has further developed the PA4-200 and PA6-280 engines for this type of application.
