NUMERICAL EVALUATION OF THE SPRINGING LOADS ON TENSION LEG PLATFORMS

The springing loads which are considered as the main source of resonant excitations on tension leg platforms (TLPs) are analyzed in this paper by an efficient method which combines the semi- analytical diffraction and the full numerical three-dimensional panel radiation solutions. The results obtained for a set of vertical cylinders and the Snorre TLP show a high degree of interaction between columns and a slow decay of the second-order diffraction potential.
